Visa Requirements (US Passport)
Visa-FreeUS citizens can visit France visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period (Schengen rules). Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date.

Required SoonThe European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will be required for US travelers. Apply online before travel (€7, valid 3 years). Check if it's active before your trip.
Proof of Onward Travel

Health & Vaccine Requirements
Required Vaccines
NoneNo mandatory vaccines for US travelers entering France. However, CDC recommends routine vaccinations be up to date (MMR, Tdap, etc.).
Travel Insurance
Highly RecommendedFrance has excellent healthcare but it's expensive for non-EU visitors. Travel insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation, and trip cancellation is wise. US health insurance typically doesn't cover abroad.
Prescription Medications
Bring DocumentationCarry prescriptions in original bottles with labels. Bring a letter from your doctor for controlled substances. French pharmacies won't fill foreign prescriptions without seeing a local doctor.

Cash Declaration
€10,000+ OnlyIf carrying €10,000 or more (or equivalent) in cash, you must declare it on arrival. This includes traveler's checks and certain securities. No limit, just declaration requirement.
Duty-Free Allowances
Generous LimitsFrom outside EU: 200 cigarettes OR 100 cigarillos OR 50 cigars OR 250g tobacco. 4 liters wine + 16 liters beer OR 1 liter spirits >22% alcohol. Gifts up to €430 by air.

Schengen 90/180 Rule: Track your days carefully. The 90-day limit applies to all Schengen countries combined within any 180-day period. Overstaying can result in bans and fines.
Document Copies: Make copies of your passport photo page, visa (if applicable), travel insurance, and emergency contacts. Store separately from originals and email yourself copies.
